20th Anniversary of Holy Guruji's Mahasamadhi
Knowledge is universally valued and respected across all cultures. The most esteemed universities take pride in their faculty members who have been imparting their knowledge for decades. The longer the tradition of education a college has, the more highly it is regarded.
The same is true with spiritual knowledge, which is traditionally passed from master to disciple – guru to shishya.
Yoga in Daily Life has a long tradition of spiritual masters who have left their legacy in the form of teachings, books and bhajans – spiritual songs. One of the respected masters in this great lineage is Hindu Dharmsamrat Paramhans Sri Swami Madhavananda Ji, affectionately known as Holy Guruji, and he became liberated from this mortal world twenty years ago, in 2003.
He was a rare one, who attained the blessed state of Self-realisation through pure devotion and service to his Master, Bhagwan Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji. He dedicated his life to his beloved Mahaprabhuji through his service to all creatures. He was tirelessly teaching the profound wisdom of the Vedas, devotion to God and the essence of human life. Pure divine love radiated from Holy Guruji, who was supremely conscious that God's light is in every creature. He fundamentally changed the lives of all who had the privilege of meeting him, by revealing the ultimate truth about the true meaning of human life.
Millions of people attended his lectures in India and around the world over many decades. Through his teachings, Holy Guruji planted the seeds of divine love in the hearts of all and emphasised that true happiness and peace can only be attained through satsang – meeting with holy saints (Gurudev), praying and chanting the divine name of God (mantra). He taught advanced meditation techniques for the purification of all levels of consciousness. "Peace and bliss come from satsang," Holy Guruji often proclaimed.
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Holy Guruji's mahasamadhi – the day he attained the highest level of consciousness and departed from this world. He entrusted the profound knowledge to Vishwaguruji, Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Sri Swami Maheshwarananda Puriji, who has taken on the immense task of preserving and passing it on.
On 21 November 2023, people from different corners of India and the world, who were directly touched by the blessings and teachings of Holy Guruji, gathered at OM Ashram, Jadan, in Rajasthan, to celebrate his life and express their gratitude to Vishwaguruji for keeping the memory of such a great saint alive.
Despite the cold winter night, many singers waited their turn to sing the bhajans of Holy Guruji and Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji, spreading the light of knowledge and pure love to all throughout the night.
