2024 the 10th IDY with Yoga in Daily Life
The International Day of Yoga, established by the United Nations on December 11, 2014, through Resolution 69/131, is celebrated on June 21 each year. This day aims to raise global awareness of the many benefits of yoga.
In honor of its universal appeal and the holistic wellness it promotes, Yoga in Daily Life centers and ashrams around the world celebrated the tenth International Day of Yoga with a series of events, workshops, and free yoga sessions. These celebrations not only highlighted the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health benefits of yoga but also promoted a healthy and cruelty-free lifestyle through the inclusion of vegan and vegetarian refreshments.
Australia
Brisbane
At the Yoga in Daily Life Brisbane Center, over 50 yoga enthusiasts gathered to celebrate IDY by practicing asanas and pranayama. The event highlighted the physical and mental health benefits of these traditional yoga practices.
Melbourne
The Melbourne center marked IDY with a series of events. Online Yoga Nidra Class was offered for deep relaxation and stress relief, free yoga classes which demonstrated how Yoga in Daily Life can lead to good health, deeper awareness, and harmony and online Meditation & Philosophy Class focused on the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most significant texts on yoga..
Sunshine Coast
Yoga in Daily Life Sunshine Coast hosted a free yoga class that cultivated a friendly and spiritual atmosphere, inviting participants to experience the serenity and benefits of yoga.
Sydney and Perth
In Sydney, Yoga in Daily Life celebrated with three free yoga classes, providing opportunities for participants to learn more about yoga. In Perth, a special free yoga class was organized for seniors, promoting inclusivity and well-being for all age groups.
Nationwide Online Satsang
The Australian celebrations included online Satsang with Mahamandaleshwar Swami Jasraj Puri, Swami Gopal Puri, and many other yoga disciples and students. The Satsang included bhajans (spiritual songs), wisdom teachings, meditation, and prayers.

Vienna
At the Guruji Ashram in Vienna, numerous yoga enthusiasts gathered to celebrate IDY. The event saw participation from both long-time students of Vishwaguruji and younger generations. Swami Umapuri led a rejuvenating yoga program that included gentle relaxation, regenerating Asanas, exercises focusing on back and shoulder health and longer pranayam, soothing breathing exercises that provided participants deep relaxation.
Everyone enjoyed a delightful vegetarian/vegan dinner consisting of lentil soup, grilled vegetables, fried potatoes, rice, and a variety of fruits and cakes. The evening was marked by informal conversations in an atmosphere of friendship and harmony.
Villach
In Villach, the IDY celebrations included a comprehensive presentation on June 21, 2024. The event attracted 23 participants and consisted of lecture and video presentation “Insights into the System Yoga in Daily Life”, yoga practice and vegetarian refreshments. The event ended with healthy snacks and friendly conversations. A spiritual gathering with satsang and prayer concluded the day's events.
Klagenfurt
In Klagenfurt, IDY was marked by a detailed presentation of yoga by the System Yoga in Daily Life, providing attendees with valuable insights into the practice and its benefits.
Eisenstadt, Burgenland
The celebration in Eisenstadt, Burgenland took place at the peace lime tree, planted jointly by Vishwaguruji and Europahaus Burgenland in 2013, located in the Cosmopolitan Garden of Eisenstadt. The event highlighted the long-standing commitment to peace and harmony through the practice of yoga.
Graz
Yoga in Daily Life in Graz celebrated the International Day of Yoga in a friendly and spiritual atmosphere, practiced yoga and experienced its many benefits.
Czech Republic
Strilky Mahaprabhudeep Ashram
In the serene and holy atmosphere of Strilky Ashram, the International Day of Yoga was celebrated in the presence of Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Sri Swami Maheshwarananda Puri, author of the System Yoga in Daily Life, along with Swami Avatar Puri and many distinguished guests, sannyasis and disciples of Yoga in Daily Life. The event emphasized the spiritual and health aspects of yoga.
Brno
Two specialized workshops titled "Health & Balance: Specialized Yoga Workshops" were held in Brno in cooperation with the Faculty of Sports Studies, Masaryk University, the Embassy of India in Prague, and the Indian Community in the Czech Republic.
- Yoga in Daily Life for Preventing and Treating Back Pain: Led by Prof. MUDr. Martin Repko, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, and Head of the Orthopedic Clinic at the University Hospital Brno, this workshop focused on yoga exercises to prevent back pain and correct muscle imbalances and faulty movement patterns.
- Yoga in Daily Life for Achieving Hormonal Health & Balance: Conducted by MUDr. Alena Filková, a neurologist, gynecologist, obstetrician, and specialist in reproductive medicine, this workshop included an expert lecture and practical yoga session focusing on the endocrine system and the effects of yoga postures on the female hormonal system.
These workshops were attended by over 300 participants both on-site and online. Special guests from the Embassy of India in Prague were also present. The event concluded with vegetarian refreshments, fostering a sense of community and well-being.
Prachatice
In Prachatice, the IDY celebration for families and children took place at the garden party of the primary school “Národní.” More than 150 children and their family members participated. Yoga in Daily Life Prachatice also joined an online broadcast of “Health & Balance: Specialized Yoga Workshops,” providing an enriching experience for all attendees.
Žďár nad Sázavou
The yoga center in Žďár nad Sázavou celebrated IDY with eight free yoga classes from June 10 to 12, with a total of 137 participants. The harmonious and friendly atmosphere was well-received, with positive feedback from participants.
Olomouc and Bilovec
In Olomouc, IDY was celebrated with lectures and yoga practice, followed by vegetarian refreshments. Similar celebrations took place in Bilovec, further spreading the message of health and wellness through yoga.
Slovakia
Martin
Yoga in Daily Life Martin celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2024 with a rich and diverse program at their yoga center. The celebration included a lecture titled "Yoga - India's Spiritual Legacy," which featured a presentation of photos from the OM Ashram. The event also offered a variety of yoga activities tailored to different audiences, including Yoga for Kids, “Meet Yoga” practice sessions, and “Yoga for Health” exercises. Participants were treated to vegan snacks, promoting a healthy and compassionate lifestyle.
Banská Bystrica
The Yoga in Daily Life Society in Banská Bystrica organized two yoga practice sessions, a lecture on pranayama, and a short video presentation titled “50 Years of Yoga in Daily Life in Czechoslovakia.” Vegetarian refreshments were served, creating an inclusive and friendly atmosphere.
Kremnica
In Kremnica, the Yoga in Daily Life Society celebrated IDY with yoga sessions for kindergarten children and seniors in the Pensioners Club. Twenty-two children and seventeen seniors participated, highlighting the adaptability of yoga for all age groups.
Prievidza
IDY was marked in Prievidza with free yoga class.
Croatia
On June 15, 2024, the three-week celebrations of the International Day of Yoga, organized by Yoga in Daily Life in Croatia, began. Traditionally, the celebrations began in Zagreb's most famous Maksimir Park, in Samobor near the Yoga in Daily Life Aleey and in the shade of pine trees in the Novigrad Diocese Park.
On June 20, 2024, as one of the three yoga schools leading the program in Zagreb, YIDL participated in the central celebration of the Indian Embassy, and in the following days, celebrations were also held in the organization of Yoga in Daily Life in Karlovac, Rijeka, Split, Labin, Rovinj and Umag.
A significant number of yoga practitioners, some of whom have been practicing System Yoga in Daily Life for decades, gathered at all locations for the celebrations. The programs were well attended, asanas, pranayama and meditation were practiced in our centers and at carefully selected locations in parks and on beaches in Croatia. Participants were also able to learn about vegetarianism and enjoy vegetarian snacks.
The events were covered by the media, and in some cities representatives of the city authorities were present, as in Rijeka, where the program was opened by the Mayor of Rijeka, Mr. Marko Filipović, and the head of the city's health department, Ms. Karla Mušković.
Yoga in Daily Life Croatia celebrated IDY 2024 in nine cities across eleven locations, with a total participation of around 450 individuals. .
Germany
Yoga in Daily Life disciples in Hamburg, Germany, celebrated IDY at the Ashram with a day dedicated to yoga practice and prayers.
Hungary
Hungarian Yoga in Daily Life centers celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2024 with a nine-day long free online Bari Khatu Pranam program, practiced every morning and evening. During these nine days, participants completed 108 Bari Khatu Pranams, with around 500 yoga students and disciples taking part in the program.
In addition to the main program, special children's activities were organized for various age groups, engaging around 50 children. The celebrations also featured free yoga classes and Satsangs, held by all Hungarian centers, which drew a combined total of 300 participants.
Poland
The Yoga in Daily Life Association in Warsaw organized two significant events to celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2024.
On June 21, a presentation on "Yoga for the Spine" according to the System Yoga in Daily Life was held for the employees of the Ombudsman in Warsaw. This event focused on promoting spinal health and overall well-being through targeted yoga practices.
On June 23, a group of yoga practitioners gathered in the scenic Łazienki Królewskie, Warsaw Royal Łazienki Park, for a free yoga class. The event included asanas, pranayama, and meditation, dedicated to world peace. The session began with everyone chanting the peace mantra “Om Asatoma Sadgamaya…” Practicing yoga in the natural setting of the park fostered a profound sense of unity and connection among participants, enhancing the experience with the feeling that everyone and everything around them was in harmony.
Romania
In Nadlac, Yoga in Daily Life organized free yoga classes in four different locations, drawing around 100 participants. These sessions provided an opportunity for the local community to engage with yoga practices, fostering health, relaxation, and a deeper connection with oneself and others.
Ukraine
In Ukraine, the International Day of Yoga was celebrated with a free yoga class in the city park. The event attracted yoga enthusiasts who gathered to practice asanas and pranayama in a beautiful nature.
Georgia
International Day of Yoga was marked at Tbilisi, Georgia with free yoga classes in the yoga center and local park.
UK
In London, the International Day of Yoga 2024 was celebrated with a special event in Queens Park. The gathering brought together both old and new students, along with several Yoga in Daily Life teachers, under the shelter of green trees. The natural canopy provided a perfect setting, offering protection from light drizzle and hot sunshine, allowing participants to fully enjoy the relaxing full-length yoga class. Being in fresh air and nature added an extra dimension to the yoga practice.
Mexico
In Mexico, Yoga in Daily Life celebrated IDY in two locations: San Jeronimo and Tlacochahuaya, Oaxaca. Free yoga classes were conducted, allowing participants to experience the physical and mental benefits of yoga in a serene environment.
India
The International Day of Yoga 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at various ashrams in India, including OM Ashram, Vishwaguru Deep Ashram in Jaipur, and Sri Devpuriji Ashram in Kailash. These events brought together many yoga students and disciples, emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
