Day dedicated to peace - Croatia, 21 September 2012
International Day of Peace was traditionally celebrated by gathering around the peace trees in Croatian cities and with participation in the program "PEACE -TOLERANCE - SPIRITUALITY" on "ZAGREB YOGA FEST" conference.
"I simply wish there was no war in the world." ‑ with this statement in 2006 Zoran Resnik, at that time six-year-old, clearly and simply explained his reason for participating in commemoration of International Day of Peace. Today Zoran is 13-year-old, and can justly claim that he is already partaking in celebration of International Day of Peace in Croatia for half of his life. For seventh years in a row now, Yoga in Daily Life organizes the celebration of this day according to the recommendation of the General Assembly of the United Nations with the goal to awaken and raise the awareness of the importance of peace, and to promote the virtue of peacekeeping from the early childhood.
Continuing tradition this year again, members of all generations in Zagreb, Cakovec, Split and in Umag gathered around the peace trees, planted by the founder of the system Yoga in Daily Life, H. H. Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda ‑ Svamiji, with candles in their hands and joined in prayer and wish for peace.

In Zagreb, after the gathering around the peace tree at noon, the celebration of the Peace Day continued in the afternoon hours on the special event at the Trade Fair Center. This year under the title "Unity in Diversity", for the first time "Zagreb Yoga Fest" took place there ‑ conference of yoga schools in Croatia, participated also by Yoga in Daily Life. 21 September, International Peace Day was chosen as opening day, and within the conference, special program was dedicated to its celebration: "PEACE-TOLERANCE-SPIRITUALITY". On that beautiful afternoon, citizens of Zagreb had opportunity to listen to inspiring lectures and see other programs dedicated to the peace, given by lecturers and representatives of different spiritual lineages and schools of yoga. Representing Yoga in Daily Life, Swami Vivek Puri, in his lecture "Be the change you want to see", reminded the present audience of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the biggest advocate of peace and non-violence and the author of the sentence that gave title to the lecture. The lecture emphasized that ahimsa ‑ non-violence is the foundation of all spirituality, peace, and sustainability of life on Earth. Swami Vivek Puri also mentioned that world peace begins with inner peace that can be achieved only by following the principles of human dharma. He concluded the lecture by repeating Swamiji's words: "In order to change the world, we must first change ourselves".
