International Day of Yoga celebrated in Mexico
This year, the whole month of June was given to celebrating IDY, and a variety of activities were prepared in the interest of people who are already walking on the path of yoga and also those who are looking for it - organized by Yoga in Daily Life Association Mexico and some events also in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Mexico.
• 8 June – Indian Embassy in Mexico
We realized the musical afternoon with the title Immortal Message of Bhajans. Fifty persons attended this event. We are glad and thankful for getting this opportunity to share with people the message that we learn from Vishwaguruji through Bhajans.
• 18 June – Bosque de Tlahuac Park
An event celebrating International Day of Yoga was prepared with a yoga class, singing bhajans (devotional spiritual songs) and sharing prashad (blessed food). The program took place in the pleasant atmosphere of the park, with many new people showing interest in practicing yoga.
• 19 - 23 June – Free Classes
There were 13 free classes for anyone from the public offered in 'Yoga Week', with many regular and new participants taking part. It was a very nice opportunity for existing practitioners to invite their friends and family members, and they did so.
• 19 - 23 June – Project of Commitment to NOT Consume Meat and Eggs
We invited all the practitioners and participants of our programs to make a personal commitment to themselves of not consuming meat and eggs for eight days in this week of International Day of Yoga, as a support for personal health, protection of the animals and protection of the environment. They were invited to sign this personal commitment that was prepared on paper, and organizers were pleasantly surprised that 56 individuals decided to do it.
• 25 June – IDY Main Celebration
The Embassy of India in Mexico prepared the main IDY2017 event in Mexico City. A group of 19 people from YIDL Mexico took part, with the main teacher guiding a meditation program from the stage, accompanied by several practitioners. The YIDL logo was also visible on the stage set, as one of the participatory organizations of the event.
