Swami Umapuri tours Australia – Melbourne
MELBOURNE
Following her trip to Central Australia, Swami Umapuri headed east again to visit Melbourne from 10-13 March 2023, leading a variety of programs for Yoga in Daily Life students and teachers who were grateful for the positive energy, wisdom and teachings that she generously shared with all.
Evening Lectures & Satsangs
After arriving from the airport on Friday, Swami Umapuri jumped straight into an Evening Lecture, attended by yoga practitioners and the general public, and from Friday 10th March to Sunday 12 March, she enthusiastically gave satsang lectures every evening.
On Saturday evening, a Satsang was held with members and devotees from the Indian community – a joyful evening of bhajans (spiritual songs) and stories from the spiritual lineage of Yoga in Daily Life master teachers, followed by dinner together. Swami Umapuri impressed upon all how spiritually rich the Indian culture is.
The Sunday evening Satsang was with YIDL members and their families. It was a beautiful evening where the children presented stories from the Lila Amrit, an historical account of the life of revered Indian yoga master, Bhagwan Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji. Swami Umapuri shared more details of the teachings from these stories and how they apply to our lives today.
Chakra Workshop
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, Swami Umapuri led a 2-part Yoga Workshop on Exploring the Chakras, which was attended by YIDL teachers, yoga teachers from other traditions and many local YIDL practitioners. These sessions presented a practical experience of the chakras and their influence on our health and well-being.
Urban Yoga Retreat
Monday 13 March was a public holiday, which gave the opportunity for people to attend an Urban Yoga Retreat, a special daytime event held at the Greythorn Community Hub in the Melbourne suburb of Balwyn North. It was a rejuvenating program of asanas, relaxation and satsang, and included practising outside in the sunshine, followed by a vegetarian lunch.
Attended by many existing Yoga in Daily Life practitioners, plus several new students, participants gave feedback that they loved Swami Umapuri’s approach, which was "simple, yet so deep and effective", and they valued the opportunity to hear and learn more in-depth about yoga.
The YIDL organisers, teachers and students in Melbourne are immensely grateful to Swami Umapuri for sharing her time, guidance and experiences during this special visit and are looking forward to her visiting again soon.
